One of the biggest shocks i've experienced during my time so far in Edinburgh is how different a school day looks compared to GW.
On an average day at GW I'd have 2 to 3 classes, spend an hour or 2 doing homework and readings, go to the gym, and cook dinner. Here the intensity of the classes is higher but the time commitment is vastly lower. With just 50 minutes of classes all but one day a week my days start at a relaxing 10am for my 11am class.
The amount of material covered is high but with nothing but readings I spend very little of my time every week outside of class focused on it. One could say I dont take my work home with me, a stark departure from GW. The rest of my day looks something like making lunch at 1, going to the gym at 2, doing any work or errands at 4, and meeting up with all of my friends to make a freshly prepared "Family Dinner" every night.
Overall there is a lot more time to explore new things and focus on your own personal interests compared to school back in the US.
