Luca is a second-year graduate student in International Affairs at the Elliott School with a focus in International Security. Luca grew up in the Netherlands and has traveled to many places in Europe. His favorite travel destination so far is Prague, because of the architecture and rich history. In 2018, he decided to go ‘abroad’ for his education and come to the United States. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in international studies from Baker University in Baldwin City, KS. During his time as an undergraduate, Luca was able to intern with a local think tank and the Oxford Center for Islamic Studies to work on an interesting project related to Pakistani trade policy. In his free time, Luca likes to stay active by going for a run, a bike ride, or playing soccer. He also enjoys traveling and cooking. Luca looks forward to being your first point of contact when you are looking to transform your college experience by studying abroad!

Deborah Mativo

Social Media Study Abroad Community Ambassador

Deborah is a junior in the School of Business double majoring in Accounting and German. She grew up in Atlanta, Georgia, but would travel almost every summer to a new country because her parents enjoyed traveling. This sparked her love for travel and learning about different cultures. She recently came back from her time abroad in Vienna, Austria (Fall 2023), where she got to experience firsthand the Austrian culture and use her German speaking skills. At GW, Deborah is on the board of the Inter-varsity Christian Fellowship and is a part of REmix. In her free time she likes to bake (especially cakes), read, and host movie nights for her friends. She is thrilled to be a SACA this semester and help people in the same way she was helped when applying to study abroad. Come visit her and ask questions!
