Studying in Tokyo has been an absolute blast. Nowhere else can you find $1 conveyor belt sushi, giant bowls of tsukemen after class, and the cutest Ghibli and character-themed shops around every corner. From beautiful temples and peaceful gardens to late-night crepes and hotpot dinners with friends, every day feels a little different.
As much as I have loved eating my way through Japan, my favorite part has been meeting people from all over the world. Some of my best memories have come from the most unexpected moments! Like getting taiyaki from an old man selling from his car, wandering through historic neighborhoods, or discovering hidden cafés and local spots with friends.
One thing I didn't expect to get used to was eating alone. Between classes, long commutes, and busy schedules, it's not always easy to meet up. At first it felt strange, but I've come to appreciate it. It gives you time to slow down, enjoy the food, and experience daily life the way many locals do.
And that also makes the moments with friends even more special. Whether it's taking silly photo booth pictures or hanging out with pigs at a pig café.
Living in Japan has given me a deeper appreciation for the balance between tradition and modern life. Every day brings something new to discover, and I'm grateful for every moment of it.
