In early October, I was honored to be one of 25 Gilman Scholars selected to learn about institutions within the European Union and NATO. Sponsored by the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program Study Tour, I expanded my knowledge of US-EU relations. Our cohort met and listened to representatives from the European Commission, the European External Action Service, the European Council, the European Parliament, and NATO.

Some of my favorite moments include:
- Discovering the many opportunities within the EU, such as the Fulbright Program, Erasmus+, and more!
- Engaging with Agnes Beres, a policy officer at NATO, we are briefed on NATO-EU relations. As well as exploring the NATO building with excellent tour guides and hearing about the opportunities they offer. It was great to see recently graduated students from North America as interns, and it helped me imagine myself in those roles.
- Listening to a lecture about the European Parliament, specifically what they do and why we need to know. Followed by a tour of the building afterwards, guided by Michael Scalon.
Ultimately, I am very thankful for the Gilman scholarship, as it presented me with an incredible opportunity to learn about the EU and meet amazing people.
