Hi All!

As a member of the Global Bachelor's Program, I am currently on my second study abroad at the University of Edinburgh(UOE) in Scotland! My time here thus far has been extremely educational and fulfilling. Compared to my last study abroad, which was at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, the UK offers a different type of learning experience and cultural immersion.

As far as classes, the structure is quite similar, though my class times at UOE are an hour shorter; however, the conversations are different. At the UOE, we discuss in reference to the UK’s history and position in political matters. This is a major reason why I love being a part of the GBP; due to the opportunity to have been taught from the historical and political perspective of three different continents!

Culturally, or more foodie, I have been able to try plenty of haggis and beans on toast! The food here is more protein-heavy, as opposed to Singapore, where I typically ate noodles with vegetables. I am definitely missing the cuisine from SEA, but due to Edinburgh's cultural hub, I have been able to indulge in a more diverse selection of food.

Travel around Europe versus SEA has been quite parallel. I would argue that flights around Europe are cheaper than SEA, but that comes with the caveat of more expensive accommodation. As well as, the cost of living around SEA was much cheaper, where the Pound and Euros weigh more than the dollar. I’ve had to be much more aware of my spending and when or when not I can get a sweet treat. :(

I am very excited to keep examining the difference between my two study abroad experiences and look back on this blog to see if my perspective has changed!
