Nearly 2 months ago I had the privilege of beginning my Buenos Aires studying abroad experience at the Torcuato Di Tella University (UTDT) via GW exchange. Like many others, I did not take the decision to study abroad lightly and feared the worst upon arrival: regret.
In those first few weeks I had visited the national monuments, museums, and began classes, which all granted me the opportunity to meet many other exchange students with whom I spent time. Despite meeting many people and on occasion going places with many, I did feel some anxiety that I had yet to find a core group, that I might be lost in a sea of ultimate solitude.
Getting through those first few weeks was only possible through the support of my family and friends back home who helped to remind me that everything takes time and patience. Now further along in my study abroad journey, I can safely say I am so glad I took the plunge to study my penultimate semester abroad. I feel like everyday abroad is an opportunity to grow linguistically, socially, and culturally!
With many trips to plan around the region and every place feeling like a different adventure, it seems limitless. I don’t know what awaits me 2 months from now, but I can’t recommend enough for others to take the opportunity to study abroad while at GW through the help of the GW OSA team!
