As I reflect on my time at Nanyang Technological University, I am grateful to have had the ability to take coursework that engages non-western international relations theories and learn about human rights issues in another part of the world firsthand. Although the academics were rigorous, the connection with my professors and classmates deepened and helped me apply what I learned differently.
Moreover, I enjoyed the cultural and diverse sights around Singapore especially in my last days from Haji Lane to arab street to the Gotham Building of Singapore. I highly recommend you keep an open mind and try to expand your networks as much as possible as you meet not only local Singaporeans but also global bonds in the exchange students there.
While I was there, outside of academics, I attended dance classes and attended various arts events, especially through the experimental film class that I took while there. There are also several exhibits like the Studio Ghibli exhibit or the Monet video exhibition I urge anyone who attends to explore as much as possible. Lastly, my favorite spot to study was East Coast Park right alongside the beachfront.
