Scholarships & Gilman Study Abroad Community Ambassador
Alaa is a senior in the Columbian College of Arts and Sciences majoring in Cognitive Neuroscience and minoring in Speech Language & Hearing Sciences. While having lived most of her life in Orlando, Florida, and, recently, Virginia, her desire to reconnect with her Moroccan roots spurned her on to study abroad at Al Akhawayn University for the 2024 Spring Semester. She enjoyed spending her time traveling and exploring the subcultures of various regions of Morocco from the Saharan Desert to the Middle Atlas Mountains to the northern coastlines and more. In her free time, Alaa loves to make bracelets, read a good book, build LEGO sets, and rewatch the Vampire Diaries for the hundredth time. As a SACA, she’s delighted to join the community that assisted her so much through her own study abroad experience, and she hopes to be as great of a support for other students in preparation for their future experience abroad.
