Hi! My name is Bridget, and I’m currently a junior majoring in biomedical engineering. This semester, I’m studying abroad at Queen Mary University of London, and it’s been such a positive experience so far!
Queen Mary’s Fall semester begins a bit later than most schools in the U.S., so we didn’t start classes until mid-September. Because of that, I’ve only been in classes for about a month, which gave me plenty of time to explore the city. My favorite London spots thus far include Borough Market, Notting Hill, Hyde Park, and Old Spitalfields Market. One thing I really enjoy about London is how many green spaces there are. There’s even a gorgeous park just a 10-minute walk from Queen Mary’s campus, which I’ve been visiting regularly between my classes.
In addition to exploring London, I’ve been taking advantage of my weekends to travel around Europe. So far, I’ve visited Vienna, Austria, and Porto, Portugal, both of which were high on my travel bucket list. I’ve already got a few more trips planned for the semester, and I can’t wait to explore more of Europe!
Overall, I’ve had a great experience studying abroad. Being in London has been amazing, and I’m so grateful I made the decision to spend my Fall semester here. It’s been the perfect balance of academics, travel, and personal growth.
