London is not only home to incredible sights, world-class museums, and iconic plays, but it also holds some of the best markets in all of Europe. A couple of my favorite markets have included Borough Market, Portobello Market, and the Mercato Mayfair Market!
Borough Market
Borough Market might be one of London's most viral markets, ranging from viral food stalls to Michelin-starred restaurants. One of the most viral food stalls is called Turnip, which consists of hand-cut strawberries drenched in chocolate sauce. The other stalls serve classic fish & chips, big servings of paella, and fresh pressed juices. The market is also surrounded by a variety of restaurants ranging from Mediterranean to Japanese cuisine. The market is one of the oldest in London dating back to at least the 12th century.
Portobello Market
Portobello Market is located in Notting Hill and is the perfect activity for any nice day in London except Thursdays when it is closed. The market is located on a long road and consists of vintage goods, street eats, and souvenirs. You can find vendors selling all different kinds of things, from vintage watches to custom paintings. It is also lovely to take a stroll through the residential area of Notting Hill and admire the homes.
Mercato Mayfair Market
Mercato Market is tucked away in a Church in Mayfair. St Mark’s Church was deconsecrated in 1974 and as you wander through the stained-glass sanctuary, you can find food stands, eateries & a vaulted wine cellar. This market is the perfect place to grab a quick bite to eat while wandering around Mayfair or taking in the beautiful views that is St Mark’s Church.
