About University of Navarra

University of Navarra, founded in 1952 as a Catholic University in Pamplona, Spain, has a student population of 15,000, including some 9,000 undergraduates.  About  15 per cent are international students from over 70 countries, who help create a richly diverse learning environment for GW students abroad.Students may take courses in over 40 major fields with well-regarded faculty, meet students from around the world, take part in on-campus activities, and travel throughout Spain with the assistance of the international office.

Learning at University of Navarra

At Navarra, GW exchange students take courses in English or Spanish through the School of Economics and Business Administration or the School of Communication.  The media, journalism, and communication program ranks at the top among Spanish universities.  Other strong academic disciplines  include business, economics, languages, and history.

Life at Navarra

The University of Navarra offers top-notch facilities and libraries, with sports fields, unique restaurants, stores, cafés, and more nearby.  While exchange students are encouraged to meet Spanish students in their classes and residences, the university also offers a club for international students with activities at orientation and throughout the semester, including excursions, social outings, and paella tastings.

The university encourages students to explore nearby Pamplona, a mid-sized city with a population of about half that of Washington, D.C.  Many students travel throughout Spain during their semester or year abroad, but Pamplona and the area around the University of Navarra are additional sources of cultural diversion outside of the classroom.

Exchange students can live either on campus or in shared apartments within walking distance of campus with Spanish or other international students. On-campus, students can live in halls of residence or university clubs, though these have limited availability.  The international office at the University of Navarra assists students with their housing selection.
