Office for Study Abroad Recognized in GW's Celebration of Excellence
The Office for Study Abroad earned high marks at GW’s 12th annual Celebration of Excellence last week in recognition of its exemplary work on behalf of students, fellow staff members, and the entire university community. Celebration of Excellence awards are extended to offices, employees, and initiatives that demonstrate a commitment to learning, communication, community, diversity, excellence, respect, service, sustainability, and teamwork.
Study Abroad staff members and initiatives were nominated in four of five Excellence Award categories. Individual nominations went toTaylor Wood, former advisor for the Middle East and Africa, in the Staff Excellence category for his work with the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program; and to Lauren Wagoner, acting Executive Coordinator for the GW Madrid, GW Chile, and GW Argentina programs, in the Student-Staff Excellence category. The Office for Study Abroad, under the direction of the Office of International Programs, received a nomination for Departmental Excellence; and the Study Abroad Fire Safety Initiative, an effort to improve awareness of and implement best fire safety practices for GW students abroad, was nominated in the category of Collaborative Partnership.
