About Koç University

In the eighteen years since its establishment, Koç University has become one of the leading universities in Turkey. Koç's various faculties--Social Sciences and Humanities, Administrative Sciences and Economics, Science, Engineering, Law, Nursing and Medicine, promote strengths in understanding of the human sciences and foster interdisciplinary learning among students across all academic disciplines.

Learning at Koç

Koç University has four other campus locations--West Campus, Nişantaşı Campus, RCAC Beyoğlu and İstinye Campus--and is divided into several colleges.   GW students may choose classes at the following:

  • College of Administrative Sciences and Economics (CASE)
  • College of Sciences (CS)
  •  College of Social Sciences and Humanities (CSSH)
  • College of Engineering (CE)

Most classes at Koç University are taught in English.  KU students usually take five courses per term, worth three credits each (for an average of 15 KU credits, which is equal to 30 ECTS). There is no requirement for exchange students; however, at least three courses are recommended per semester.

Life at Koç

Located in the hills of Sarıyer, Istanbul, Koç University is twenty minutes from the Black Sea beaches, surrounded by charming villages and natural landscapes, and connected to the city center by many accessible and convenient transportation options. As a university focused on creating well-educated and well-rounded citizens, Koç University places tremendous value on providing a variety of extra-curricular activities for its students, including student clubs and sports. The SGKM (Sevgi Gönül Culture Center) dedicates the necessary resources to ensure
that these opportunities satisfy and enrich student life to the fullest.

GW students may choose to live in KU's Main Campus Facilities or find independent housing. Housing is not included in the GW Study Abroad Fee; students pay Koç University directly for housing costs.
