FOFAC sounds great! What do I need to do to apply?

  • Have a strong academic background and interest in living in a community
  • Be in Good Academic Standing (2.00)
  • Be in good judicial standing at GW
  • Complete 45 credit hours by the time of departure
  • Plan on studying abroad during a fall semester and returning to GW in the spring
  • Write a 250-word essay pitching your ideas for the first cultural events FOFAC students will attend when they return to GW in the spring. 





FOFAC Timeline

  • November 1: FOFAC Application Opens on the Office for Study Abroad website
  • February 15: FOFAC application closes
  • Mid-March: Most FOFAC students find out about housing placements
  • Early May: FOFAC Send Off Party
  • July-September: FOFAC students depart for their host countries
  • July-December: FOFAC students build community abroad 
  • December: Cultural Ambassadors are announced
  • January: FOFAC students return to campus and attend Welcome Back Reception
  • January May: FOFAC Cultural Ambassadors plan 40+ cultural, career-focused, and re-entry events for and with the community
