GW Exchanges in Asia


The HKUST International Summer Program (ISP) is a well-structured program that aims to create a rewarding summer experience for students from around the world. It comprises high-quality education and enriching cultural activities, allowing students to learn from academic achievers outside of their home institutions while gaining insight into the Asian culture. GW students from all majors and disciplines are eligible to apply!


A range of courses in Business, Engineering, Science, Social Sciences and Humanities is offered and taught by HKUST's top-notch academics. These courses seek to enhance students' understanding in their respective areas of study, increase their interests in Asian affairs, deepen their cultural awareness and improve students' capacities in applying their knowledge in real-life settings.

In addition to the aforementioned disciplines, students can also study Chinese language. Through courses and various cultural activities, students will be able to take a closer look at the Asian culture and understand the vital role that Hong Kong plays in the world's political, economic and financial arenas.


In addition to courses, the HKUST Summer Program includes a series of enrichment activities. These will take place throughout the program including the welcome and farewell banquets, local tours, workshops and performances.

Students will be able to experience Chinese culture at first hand through hands-on and appreciation workshops on Chinese opera, Chinese calligraphy, Tai Chi and other fascinating topics.  There will also be visits to local cultural and historical places such as the Giant Buddha and Tai O Fishing Village.


Students participating on the program through the GW Exchange Tuition Waiver are responsible for the following costs:

  • Accommodation Fee: $730
  • Visa Fee: $55
  • Other Living Expenses (Meals, Local Transportation, Etc.): $1,100
  • Airfare

How to Apply for a GW Exchange Program

Students can begin a GW Exchange program application at anytime by searching for their program of choice on GW Passport. Students must meet with their study abroad advisor prior to the GW Exchange program deadline for their applications to be considered.  Please refer to our Advising Services page to find the appropriate study abroad advisor for your school.
