About AUK

The American University of Kuwait (AUK) is an independent, private, and coeducational liberal arts institution of higher education established by Amiri Decree 139 in 2003. AUK offers students a quality education based on an American college model through thirteen degree programs. This combination of studies and campus life supports one's personal and professional growth.

Learning at AUK

AUK offers a wide array of courses in English in the following departments:

Life at AUK

AUK enrolls approximately 2,500 undergraduate students and is located in the heart of the lively Salmiya district, two blocks from the Arabian Gulf. AUK offers opportunities for student involvement through the Office of Student Life.


Housing arrangements will be coordinated through the AUK Office of Human Resources. As AUK does not offer on-campus student accommodations, a number of alternatives may be available. Program housing may be in an apartment or a modestly priced hotel.

How to Apply for a GW Exchange Program

Students can begin a GW Exchange program application at anytime by searching for their program of choice on GW Passport. Students must meet with their study abroad advisor prior to the GW Exchange program deadline for their applications to be considered.  Please refer to our Advising Services page to find the appropriate study abroad advisor for your school.
