The Office for Study Abroad has study abroad advisors to assist students in their search for a program and application process. Advisors aid students in choosing study abroad programs that best fit their academic and cultural interests, facilitate pre-departure orientations, provide assistance to students while abroad, and review study abroad transcripts and course approvals for transfer credit.
Express Advising is available Monday-Friday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. in the Office for Study Abroad Resource Room in Marvin Center Suite 505 during the regular schedules fall and spring semesters. Express Advisors can answer general questions on the study abroad process, program search, application forms, general program information, GW Passport, and transfer credit and course approvals. For all other issues, particularly specific program advising, advising on visas, course selection abroad, and anything else requiring longer consultation, students are encouraged to come to office hours.
Study Abroad Peer Advisors
Study Abroad Peer Advising is available throughout the week. Study Abroad Peer Advisors (SAPAs) are study abroad alumni who help the Office for Study Abroad in communicating vital information and resources to students hoping to study abroad. SAPAs are held to a high standard and care about sharing their insight and accurate information with their peers and classmates. For SAPA office hours and info session times please click here.
Advisors are available for office hours during the regularly scheduled fall and spring semesters to provide guidance individually on specific programs, the study abroad process, applications, course selection, and transfer credit. Students do not need an appointment to meet with their advisor during this time; however, they should be mindful that office hours are first come, first served and during peak times there may be a wait. Students should plan to come to office hours after meeting with an express advisor or SAPA.
Fall 2016 Hours:
Students with more specific questions regarding study abroad may make an appointment to meet with a study abroad advisor outside of office hours. Students seeking general advice on the study abroad process should visit Express Advising and/or consult briefly with their advisor during regular office hours before making an appointment. Study Abroad advisors are assigned to students by school. Please click on your school below to make an appointment with the appropriate study abroad advisor.
