Students participate in the traditional Oxford tutorial system in which self-motivation and self-discipline are essential components for academic success. Teaching at Oxford is based on the tutorial system. Typically, an essay is assigned each week, which forms the basis of the tutorial discussions. Students meet with professors in small groups to discuss their work in detail.

GW students may choose major and minor courses, or classes. Major courses are worth 8 GW credits and minor courses are worth 4 GW credits. Grades are based on tutorial essays, discussions, and written examinations.

Once accepted into Oxford, students will work closely with their tutor to choose subjects of study. Please note: Students must choose course options as listed on the St. Anne's website. Failure to do so could jeopardize the student’s chance of securing a place.
